JazzCash *786# walkthrough (works on any phone)

Feature phone, no data, no smartphone — no problem. The *786# USSD menu is the fastest way to pay from a Jazz SIM:

  1. Dial *786# from your Jazz mobile.
  2. Reply 5 — Bill Payment.
  3. Pick your utility group: 1 (Electricity), 2 (Gas), 3 (Telephone), 4 (Water).
  4. Pick DISCO / operator (MEPCO, LESCO, K-Electric, SNGPL, SSGC, PTCL, WASA…).
  5. Enter your 14-digit reference number.
  6. Screen shows amount + due date — reply 1 to confirm.
  7. Enter your 4-digit MPIN. Done — SMS receipt arrives in seconds.

Non-Jazz users can dial *786# from any network to log in with an OTP, but limits are Rs. 5,000/day until you upgrade to a full account.

Which channel should you use?

  • Have a bank account? Use your bank app's 1LINK bill-payment. Fastest, no per-transaction cap, and it's the DISCO's official reconciliation channel.
  • Feature phone or roaming? JazzCash *786# — no data, no app, works overseas on any operator that supports USSD.
  • Bill is Rs. 100k+ and due today? Raast on your bank app — settles in seconds, unlike Easypaisa retailer which can take 2 hours.
  • Paying for someone else's meter? JazzCash or Easypaisa app — you don't need to be the account holder, just have the 14-digit reference.

Whichever channel you use, always screenshot the transaction ID (TID). If the bill status on PITC doesn't flip to Paid within 24 hours, the TID is what the DISCO helpline (dial 118) will ask for.

What if the payment doesn't reflect on PITC?

1 in 500 bill payments gets stuck in the 1LINK settlement queue. Standard remedy:

  1. Wait 24 hours — 90% of stuck payments clear on the next 1LINK settlement window (7:00 PST).
  2. Still stuck? Call your channel's helpline: JazzCash 4444, Easypaisa 3737, or your bank's app-support number. Give the TID.
  3. If they confirm the payment cleared their side, call the DISCO helpline (118) and file a "Payment Not Updated" complaint with the TID + channel name.
  4. PITC clears mismatched payments within 3 working days. Keep the TID screenshot until the bill status flips.
